Position Description:

The Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) will provide support services to the Employee Development Group within the Air Traffic Organization (ATO) of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The ISD designs and develops learning opportunities and resources for ATO employees and managers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in instructional design, instructional technology, learning and development, educational psychology, industrial-organizational psychology, or a closely related field.
  • Six years' experience in the design and development of learning and development programs and materials.

Essential Functions:

  • Conducts front-end analysis of learning needs, designs and develops training modules, courses, and workshops for optimal retention and transfer of learning to the job.
  • Designs and develops learning and development programs, courses, workshops, and other learning events.
  • Prepares instructor materials such as course outlines, facilitator guides, and slides, and other visual aids.
  • Develops instructional materials for learners and facilitators.
  • Prepares student materials such as course manuals, workbooks, handouts, and completion certificates.
  • Designs and develops job aids and guides to enhance learning and on-the-job performance.
  • Ensure necessary technical, business, and management (e.g., cost, schedule, and deliverable) requirements of the Statement of Work (SOW) are successfully performed in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Serve AMTIS Program/Project Managers for work assigned/performed under the delivery order.
  • Prepare written documentation of accomplishments as stipulated in support of monthly report submission.
  • Keep the AMTIS FAA ATO Employee Development Group Program/Project Managers informed of any potential problems and make recommendations for solutions.
  • Support the production of Monthly Status Reports (MSRs), documenting the accomplishments and value-added activities of the previous month and identify planned activities for the following months.
  • Participate in the conduct of quarterly Contract Activity Reviews (CARs) with the government customer, addressing the schedule, cost and performance of the contract to date.

Work Conditions:

  • Work is primarily performed in an FAA ATO-provided office in Washington D.C.
  • Some travel may be required in the performance of duties.
